Report Spain. by Yalou

Sunday

Early in the morning we left for Schiphol, with the car. When all the parents and children were at Schiphol, we checked in the suitcases. Then we said goodbye to our parents. We then had to go through customs. We had to wait a while but soon we were able to board the plane. After 2 hours and 20 minutes we were already in Spain. We had to wait an hour for the group of German children and teachers. They were also on an Erasmus trip. Together we took the bus to the station, Anton bought tickets for the train, it took 45 minutes to get to Villalba station. After 40 minutes we found out we had the wrong train, so we only had 2 minutes to get from one side of the station to the other. To get to the other side of the station you had to go up and down 2 big flights of stairs with a giant suitcase, but we made it. After another half hour on the train we were really at the Villalba station and we walked out and were warmly welcomed. Then we went home, had a nice dinner and went to bed.

Monday

The school started at 9.00, so half an hour earlier. When we arrived at the school we immediately saw that there was a fence around the schoolyard. The schoolyard was huge. The schoolyard was huge. In the hallway I immediately noticed that there were all kinds of butterflies hanging on the wall. In the English class they didn’t have any learning work but a song, I liked that much more than our English in the Netherlands. Then we had math, but I didn’t understand anything. Then we had a small break and played outside for half an hour. Around 2pm we had lunch in the canteen, it wasn’t the best food but some was manageable. again after dinner we had one more hour of playing outside. Then we went home. I noticed that there was a huge lock around the door and it only opened when the children were allowed to go home.

Tuesday

We went with the school early in the morning on a walking tour through the mountains and rocks. It was really beautiful and you saw wild bulls and cows there. Near a kind of stream we saw a row of turtles sitting on a rock.

Back at school we went back to the canteen and played outside again, at the end of the day we were picked up by our host family.

Wednesday

Wednesday was actually a very normal day.

Today we (me and Dafne) gave our presentation to the class of Nora, our host family child

It went quite well and they liked the mini stroopwafels that we handed out. In the afternoon we were given an explanation about the butterflies in the hallway. Each butterfly meant a different world problem and every butterfly the butterfly makes is a little better for the world.

Thursday

We went to Alpedrete with school. First we went to a museum, in that museum there was a large stone with all kinds of carved stripes. The man explained that this was due to a drill used to break a rock in half.Later when we were back at school we had a book discussion about a book a man had written. He told it very nicely, even though I couldn’t understand anything.

   Friday

Today we went to Madrid with school, first we went by bus and then by metro. Once in Madrid we had the group in two. One group went one way and the other group went the other way. It was a kind of scavenger hunt, you had to walk through Madrid and find all kinds of buildings and take pictures of them. At one point we just walked together with the German and Dutch children. In the afternoon we went home by metro and then back by bus.

Saterday

Today was the day to go back to our own country. I loved it here, I made new friends and even new family for me. Early in the morning we took the bus to the metro station, in Madrid we were allowed to walk through the city alone this time. It was really great there to walk alone with a friend. Then take the metro to the airport. We were soon able to leave by plane, after another 2 hours and 20 minutes we were back in the Netherlands.
