We worked for 4 weeks on the “Electricity” project with the explorers from groups 2 and 3. We learned that electricity is actually a type of energy.

We experienced what an electric circuit is by playing games, watching videos and doing an experiment.

By discussing the book Willewete Elektriciteit together, we have learned a lot about the past, now and the future. The raw materials used to make electricity in factories (oil, natural gas and coal) are very polluting to the earth. We also learned that sun and wind are a much better idea for making electricity. Many children said that they have solar panels on their house and we all know the large windmills that are near the school. We all made our own windmill.

In the last lesson we came up with many ideas together to use our electricity more sustainably. For example, the children will now try to turn the heating down a little at home, turn off the lights when they are not needed and not spend so long in the shower.

Ultimately, we played a real knowledge quiz in small groups.

We now know so much more about electricity!!
