THE ERASMUS+ PROJECT HAS LANDED AT IC PIEDIMONTE SAN GERMANO
The Erasmus+ Project has finally taken off from our school! The first job shadowing mobility, for the
school staff, has taken place at the public school of Houten “OBS De Plantage” in the province of
Utrecht in the Netherlands. On the cold and frosty days between 3rd and 8th December 2023, the
participants (Headmaster Pietro Pascale and teachers Susanna Di Fazio, Emanuela Di Sotto and Maria
Grazia Minchella) were warmly greeted by the Dutch school staff.

Headmaster Diana Brouwer and external Erasmus+ coordinator Anton Verwey organised a truly
interesting weekly programme during which our teachers and headmaster had the opportunity to
observe the didactic methodology the Houten school follows. 500 students attend the school, with
ages ranging from 4 to 12: the school follows the “Dalton” method, based on autonomy, personal
organisation and mutual collaboration among students. Older students, for example, lead and help
younger students.
Rots en Water (Rocks and Water) is another methodology that highly summarizes the school mission:
determined as a rock in pursuing their objectives, but fluid as water in adapting to different and
unexpected situations.

December 5th was a special day! Sinterklass (Saint Nicholas) and his helpers came to visit the children
at their school! The children prepared letters, sang songs and danced for him and received little round
biscuits.

While waiting to leave for their next mobility, the IC Piedimonte San Germano participants are
spreading the good practices they have gained at OBS De Plantage among their colleagues and their
students at home.
