22-28 september 2024

Day 1 Sunday: We had to be at Eindhoven Airport at 2:30 PM. And we were
flying with Transavia to Athens. Went to the hotel by taxi and slept there for
one night.

Day 2 Monday:We had to get up at 7:00 am and we had to be downstairs at
the hotel by 7:30 am. We went walking through Athens to the port. The boat
left around 8:15 am. We went to that school in Aegina and danced there a
traditional Greek dance. It was a very small school with 52 children. They
started the day with a folk dance. The teachers and teachers were also very
nice and helpful. We also took some classes. for example French and
Spanish. They had to do 7 hours of math and 3 hours of gym per week.We
gave the presentation and met the host family. We went to the football lessons,
English lesson or play outside. During dinner we had given presents that we
had to take with us. We ate there every day around 9:30 PM and went to
sleep around 10:45 PM.

Day 3 Tuesday: We first went to the bakery for breakfast in the morning. We
learned a lot from this trip. We investigated how people live and what the
culture is like there. The people there are very helpful. We woke up at 7am
every day and went to school at 8am. For breakfast we had toast with cheese.
After school we went to rest from the day and then go into town,we went to a
ruin of an ancient temple. Ans also to a pistachio factory. For diner we went in
town to the restaurants where they make souflaki. Then we went back to the
host family’s house.

Day 4 Wednesday: On Wednesday we went to school. There we were going to
make a poster in which we translated Greek words into Dutch. The school in
Greece: The school was very small, there were only about 50 children. The
school also had a kind of morning ritual, where they would stand in 2 rows and
do a certain ritual. The school also had no English at their school so they had
to have separate English lessons after school. That doesn’t seem like much
fun to us.We also got a presentation there about sustainability. Then we went
with the host family to a restaurant with crepas, which are a kind of large
folded pancake from Greece with something savory or sweet in it.That was
dinner.

Day 5 Thursday: On Thursday we went to the island of Agistri and gave a
presentation at school. We also presented for 32 children. They found it
interesting what we do in the Netherlands. We have investigated what they do
there for sustainability. They have windmills and solar panels there. They also
separated waste.Afterwards we went to a church and we were allowed to light
a candle there if you wanted. Then we went to the beach at Agistri. We
cleaned the beach from plastic and garbage. Also we just went for a swim
and have lunch at a restaurant there. That was a lot of fun.

Day 6 Friday: On Friday we said goodbye to the school and cleaned up trash
on the beach. At school we were going to finish that poster from Wednesday.
Then we went to play football at their gym. And then we got a certificate.

Day 7 Saturday: On Saturday we were took the boat back to Athens. We said
goodbye to the host family at the port. We arrived by boat around 10:30 am.
And then we went shopping in Athens to buy some souvenirs and such. We
then had to arrange lunch ourselves. Then we went to eat at a restaurant
there with all te people of our travel. After dinner we went to the airport. We
flew at 11:30 PM, we left Athens and arrived in the Netherlands at 2:00 AM.
The flight took 3.5 hours. At Schiphol we had to wait a very long time for our
luggage, so we only got our luggage at 3:30 am, which was really stupid. We
had a great time traveling and are happy that we got this opportunity. I would
definitely recommend a study trip. We enjoyed the week and had the days of
our lives.

Sustainability in Greece: In Greece they also separate their waste.
They also recycle. And some houses on the island have large cylinders with
water on their roofs for showering in the summer. When it is very hot, the
water in it heats up so you can take a shower. They also had solar panels. So
almost everything is pretty much the same as in the Netherlands
